DefinitionOne who testifies to what they have personally seen, heard, or experienced. In the KJV it spans legal testimony, the testimony of the prophets, and most powerfully the testimony of those who witnessed the risen Christ. The NT Greek word martys (witness) is the source of the English word "martyr" — those who sealed their witness with their blood.
