DefinitionBeyond physical absence of light, the KJV uses "darkness" as a profound metaphor for spiritual blindness, moral evil, and separation from God. Satan's realm is called the "power of darkness." Those outside of Christ are said to dwell in darkness, while believers are called into God's "marvellous light."
