Verse Collections are named, structured groups of deliberately chosen verses that can span multiple books and chapters, include hierarchically organized cross-reference expansions, and carry personal notes at both the collection level and the individual verse level.
Quick Bookmarks
◉Bookmark any verse in one click — while reading, hover over a verse and click the small circle (○) that appears beside the verse number. It turns gold (●) the instant it is saved. Click the gold circle again to remove the bookmark — no page reload required.
◉Bookmark the entire chapter — click the ✦ Bookmark Chapter button in the chapter action bar to save the whole chapter as a single bookmark entry.
◉Verse text is captured — when you bookmark a verse, the full KJV text of that verse is stored with it and displayed on the Bookmarks page beneath the reference so you can read it without navigating away.
◉Add a personal note — from the Bookmarks page, click Edit on any bookmark to add or update a personal note. Your note appears beneath the verse text and is included in any PDF study export.
◉Bookmark manager — all saved bookmarks are gathered on the My Bookmarks page under the Bookmarks tab with direct links back to each passage and a remove button. Add any bookmark to a Bible Study or to a Verse Collection directly from this page.
Verse Collections
📌Start a collection while reading — click Select Verses in the chapter toolbar. Every verse becomes clickable. Click any verse number to select it (a highlighted outline marks each selection). Click again to deselect. A counter bar at the bottom tracks how many verses you have chosen.
📌Save your selection — click Save to Collection in the bottom bar, name the collection, add an optional note, and choose to save as a brand-new collection or append to an existing one. The full KJV text of every selected verse is stored permanently.
📌“Add to Selection” — merge cross-references into your active selection — when the cross-reference panel is open for a verse, click Add to Selection to pull those cross-referenced verses into your currently active verse selection. When you save, those verses are stored as cross-reference entries linked to the verse that referenced them. They display with a blue left border and indented styling beneath their parent verse, clearly distinguished from your manually chosen verses.
📌“Collect These Verses” — create a standalone collection from cross-references — also in the cross-reference panel, Collect These Verses immediately creates a brand-new collection from just those cross-reference verses — no active selection required. A dialog opens to name and note the collection. Use this when you want to save a set of cross-references as its own collection without selecting any primary verses first. The key difference: Collect These Verses is self-contained and creates a new collection on its own, while Add to Selection merges xref verses into a selection you are already building.
📌Hierarchical display — on the Bookmarks page, the Collections tab shows all saved collections as expandable cards. Click a card name or chevron to expand it. Manually selected verses appear with a gold left border; cross-reference verses appear indented beneath the verse they belong to with a blue left border and a source reference link. Every verse is a clickable link back to its chapter in the reader.
📌Edit and manage — from the Collections tab, edit a collection’s name and note, remove individual verses or cross-references, or delete the entire collection. A label on each card shows which Bible Studies contain that collection.
📝Add a collection to a Bible Study — use Add to Study on any collection card to attach it to one of your studies. The same hierarchical view — primary verses with indented cross-references — appears inside the study and is rendered in the PDF export.
How to build a verse collection with cross-references
Open a chapter, make sure you are signed in, and click Select Verses in the chapter toolbar.
Click one or more verse numbers to select them. A counter bar appears at the bottom of the page.
To include cross-reference verses: click a cross-reference link next to any selected verse, then click Add to Selection in the cross-reference panel. Those verses are added to your active selection and will be saved as hierarchical cross-reference entries beneath their parent verse.
Click Save to Collection in the bottom bar, name your collection, and save.
View it on the My Bookmarks page under the Collections tab. Expand the card to see primary verses with their indented cross-references.
Optionally use Add to Study to include the collection in a Bible Study, where it will appear in both the study view and the PDF export.
As the audio or video narration plays, the verse currently being
spoken is softly highlighted on screen — a gentle gold glow
that guides your eye through the chapter in perfect sync with the
narration. Especially helpful for older readers, new Bible readers,
or anyone who benefits from hearing and seeing scripture together.
💡AI-generated verse timing — all 1,189 chapters have been processed by OpenAI Whisper speech-recognition to produce precise timestamps. The highlight engine uses this data to know exactly when each verse begins and ends during playback.
💡Soft gold glow — the active verse gets a subtle gold-tinted background highlight — noticeable enough to guide the eye without interrupting reading concentration.
▶Verse-Follow toggle — a dedicated 💡 Verse Follow button in the media bar activates or deactivates the feature independently of audio and video. Your preference is remembered across chapters.
♪Works with audio narration — the highlight follows the Alexander Scourby audio narration for all 66 books of both the Old and New Testament.

How to use verse-follow highlight
Open any chapter in the reader and start the audio narration using the ♪ Audio toggle in the media bar.
Click the 💡 Verse Follow button in the same media bar.
Watch as each verse softly glows the moment it is spoken in the narration.
Navigate to the next chapter — the highlight continues seamlessly.
Click the toggle again to turn verse-follow off at any time.

📝Chapter Notes — write one personal note per Bible chapter. Notes are attached directly to the Book and Chapter, not to a study, so they are always there when you return to that chapter. Access them from the sidebar, the toolbar, or the glowing 📝 indicator in the corner of the reading page.
📖View before you edit — when a note exists for the chapter you are reading, clicking the 📝 icon opens a formatted read-only view of your complete note. Verse references are highlighted, section separators display as visual rules, and blank lines create breathing room between thoughts. Click ✎ Edit in the view panel to open the full editor.
📌Verse references — in the note editor, choose any verse from the Insert verse reference dropdown to append a formatted reference like [Genesis 1:3] at the end of your note, preceded by a separator line. References always append after existing content so earlier entries are never disrupted.
⎯New Section — click the ⎯ New Section button in the editor to insert a separator line and start a fresh section within the same chapter note. Useful for grouping different themes or ideas without creating separate notes.
📝My Notes page — view and manage all your chapter notes in one place, organized by book with collapsible headings. Filter by All, Old Testament, or New Testament. Edit any note, jump to the chapter it belongs to, or delete notes you no longer need.
⇓Export notes to PDF — on the My Notes page, click the PDF button next to any book heading to download a formatted PDF of all notes for that book. The PDF renders with a white background and black text for easy printing; separator lines display as actual horizontal rules; verse references appear in a distinct style; and a gold banner labels each chapter.
📝Link notes to studies — from inside the note editor, select any study and click ＋ Link to attach the note. The note text is permanently snapshotted at the moment of linking, so deleting the original chapter note never removes it from the study. Linked chapter notes appear as a dedicated section inside the study and are included in the study PDF export.
★Add bookmarks to a study — from the Bookmarks page or from the study view, add any saved bookmark to a study and attach an optional personal note. Your bookmark reference is snapshotted, so deleting the original bookmark never removes it from the study.
📌Verse Collections in studies — add any Verse Collection to a study using the Add to Study button on the Collections tab of the Bookmarks page. Collections appear inside the study in full hierarchical format: the collection name expands to show primary verses (gold left border) with cross-reference verses indented beneath each one (blue left border). Remove individual cross-references or the entire collection from within the study.
●Save AI conversations — from the conversation history drawer, add any of your last 20 AI conversations to a study. The full conversation (all messages, markdown formatting, and book/chapter context) is snapshotted and displayed inside the study exactly as the chatbot rendered it.
⇓Export study to PDF — click ⇓ Export PDF in the study header to download a fully formatted PDF. The PDF includes a branded header with the site name, study title, and description; all AI conversations separated by bold horizontal rules; bookmarks with verse text and notes; verse collections with the full hierarchy (primary verses and indented cross-references, all as clickable links); chapter notes; stories; and glossary entries. Deep links in the PDF allow readers to navigate directly to any referenced passage on BibleText.com.
📝Data integrity — all items added to a study are permanently snapshotted. Deleting a bookmark, clearing conversation history, or removing a verse group from the reader never removes it from your study.
How to build a study
Go to My Studies and create a new study with a title and optional description.
While reading, click Chapter Note in the sidebar or toolbar to open the note editor. Type your thoughts, use Insert verse reference to append a verse stamp, or click ⎯ New Section to add a divider. A glowing 📝 icon will appear in the corner on any chapter that has a note — click it to read the note or click ✎ Edit to update it.
Click individual verse numbers while reading to select them, build a Verse Collection, then add the collection to a study from the Bookmarks page.
From your Bookmarks page, click Add to Study on any bookmark or collection to attach it with an optional note.
Open the 🕒 History drawer in the chatbot and click Add to Study on any past conversation.
When ready, click ⇓ Export PDF on the study page to download your complete research document with the full verse hierarchy and deep links.
To export chapter notes independently, go to My Notes, expand any book, and click the PDF button beside the book name.

site. It is powered by a private large language model
that runs entirely on this infrastructure — your conversations

●Always available — look for the dark chat button in the bottom-right corner of any page. Click to open the assistant panel.
●Context-aware — when you are reading a passage, the assistant automatically knows which book and chapter you are viewing. Ask “What is the historical background of this chapter?” and it understands the context without you having to specify it.
●KJV specialist — the assistant is instructed to specialise in the King James Version. It quotes and references KJV text, explains archaic language, and provides theological and historical commentary.
●Conversation memory — the assistant remembers the last 20 exchanges in your session so you can ask follow-up questions naturally. Signed-in users have their full chat history saved to the database.
●Conversation history drawer — click the 🕒 clock icon in the chat header to open your history. Your last 20 saved conversations are listed with titles, book & chapter context, and date. Click any conversation to reload it and continue right where you left off.
●Starter questions — when you open the chat panel, up to three clickable question tiles appear to help you get started. On a reading page they are chapter-specific — questions like “Summarize this chapter” or “What are the key themes?” are pre-populated for you. On other pages a set of general Bible questions appears instead. Click any tile to fill the input box, then send when ready.
●Saved questions drawer — click the ☰ list icon in the chat header to open your personal questions library. Questions are grouped by relevance: “For this chapter” first, then general questions, then questions for other chapters. Click any question (or its Ask button) to fill the input box. Save the question currently in the input by clicking the 🔖 bookmark icon. Manage, edit, and delete your saved questions at any time on the My Questions page (up to 50 questions).
●Start a new conversation — use the + New button inside the history drawer to begin a fresh conversation at any time, or use the ↻ reset button in the header.
●Private LLM — the assistant connects to our private Ai infrastructure. All questions are managed locally and never go out to other services.

●Generate PowerPoint presentation — click the green screen icon in the chat header to instantly generate a richly formatted .pptx file from your conversation. The AI extracts all key points, comparison tables, scripture quotes, and theological insights and lays them out across 8–14 slides with a parchment theme, scripture quote boxes, and speaker notes. Download the file directly to your device and open it in PowerPoint, Google Slides, or LibreOffice.

♪Global toggle — look for the ♪ Audio button in the media bar fixed at the bottom of every reader page. Turn it on once and it stays on as you navigate between chapters.

How to use audio narration

Scenic Wonders Bible — New Testament only.
For all 27 books of the New Testament, you can also watch a
beautiful scenic video narration from the Scenic Wonders Bible
in a floating video player. The player stays out of your way while
you read — and you can drag it anywhere on screen or expand
it to a larger view.
🎦New Testament exclusive — the 🎦 Video toggle appears in the media bar only when you are reading a New Testament book (Matthew through Revelation).
🎦Floating player — the video opens in a small 240×180 window anchored to the lower-right corner. Drag it by its title bar to any position on the screen so it never covers the text you are reading.
🎦Expand to full view — click the expand button (⛶) in the player title bar to enlarge the video to 640×480. Click again (⊟) to collapse it back to the compact size. You can also move this window to where you want.
🎦Mutually exclusive with audio — turning on Video automatically stops any audio narration, and vice versa, so you never hear both at once.
🎦Auto-switches chapters — when you navigate to the next chapter the current video stops and the new chapter’s video begins, just like the audio player.
🎦Close button — click × in the player title bar to close the video and turn the toggle off.
How to use video narration
Open any New Testament chapter (Matthew through Revelation).
Scroll to the bottom to find the media bar.
Click the 🎦 Video toggle — the floating player appears in the lower-right corner.
If desired, drag the player by its gold title bar to reposition it anywhere on screen.
Click ⛶ to expand to a larger view, or ✕ to close.
