Song of Solomon 3 opens with the bride seeking her beloved by night on her bed, then rising to search the city's streets and broad ways until the watchmen find her, and at last she finds him whom her soul loves and will not let him go until she brings him to her mother's chamber. The chapter then presents the royal procession in which King Solomon made himself a chariot of the wood of Lebanon, with pillars of silver, a bottom of gold, a purple covering, and its midst paved with love. It closes by calling the daughters of Zion to behold King Solomon with the crown his mother crowned him with on the day of his espousals, the day of the gladness of his heart.
