The Scripture
(9) And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Amaziah of Judah defeated Edom but then foolishly challenged Jehoash of Israel to battle, who warned him with the parable of the thistle and the cedar before defeating Judah and breaking down Jerusalem's wall. The chapter also records the reigns of Jeroboam II in Israel, who restored Israel's border, and Amaziah's eventual assassination.
