Peter urges the believers to remain calm and not be troubled by the present troubles, reminding them that God provides for their needs. He instructs them to be satisfied with their possessions, to pray constantly, and to guard their hearts from evil. The chapter ends with a call to keep watch and be ready for the coming judgment.

(1) Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
