The Scripture
(20) And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

Jesus tells his disciples that the end of the world is near and that they will see great tribulation, signs of the Son of Man, and be persecuted. He warns that many will be deceived by false prophets and that the kingdom of God will come at an unexpected time.
