(19) For thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the pillars, and concerning the sea, and concerning the bases, and concerning the residue of the vessels that remain in this city,

Jeremiah records the fall of the city of Lachish and the destruction of its temple, a sign of God’s judgment on those who persist in rebellion. The people are taken captive and the land is left barren, a vivid illustration of divine punishment for disobedience.
