I Peter 3:16
The Scripture
(16) Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Peter instructed wives to be submissive to their own husbands and to adorn themselves with the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, while husbands were to honor their wives as fellow heirs of the grace of life. He taught that Christians should not return evil for evil but bless instead, for it is better to suffer for well-doing than for evil-doing, following Christ's example who suffered once for sins and preached to the spirits in prison.
