The Holy Bible

BibleText.com gives you two complementary ways to capture scripture as you study. Bookmarks are instant one-click saves for any verse or chapter — perfect when you want to flag something quickly and come back to it. Verse Collections are named, structured groups of deliberately chosen verses that can span multiple books and chapters, include hierarchically organized cross-reference expansions, and carry personal notes at both the collection level and the individual verse level. Both types of saved content are managed on the My Bookmarks page, which is organized into two tabs: Bookmarks and Collections.

Quick Bookmarks

• ◉Bookmark any verse in one click — while reading, hover over a verse and click the small circle (○) that appears beside the verse number. It turns gold (●) the instant it is saved. Click the gold circle again while reading to remove the bookmark with no page reload.
• ◉Bookmark the entire chapter — click the ✦ Bookmark Chapter button in the chapter action bar beneath the chapter heading to save the whole chapter as a single bookmark entry.
• ◉Verse text is captured — when you bookmark a verse, the full KJV text of that verse is stored with it. The text is displayed on the Bookmarks page beneath the verse reference so you can read it without navigating away.
• ◉Add a personal note to a bookmark — from the Bookmarks page, click Edit on any bookmark entry. A note field opens above the verse text where you can write a personal reflection or reference. Save it and the note appears as part of the bookmark entry and is included in any PDF study export.
• ◉Bookmark manager — the Bookmarks tab on the My Bookmarks page lists all your saved verses and chapters with links back to each passage, a remove button, and an Add to Study button so you can attach any bookmark to a named Bible Study.
• ◉Shown in studies — bookmarks added to a Bible Study appear in the study with the verse text and your note, and are rendered in the PDF export. Deleting the original bookmark does not remove it from the study — it is permanently snapshotted at the time you added it.

Verse Collections

A Verse Collection is a named, curated group of verses that you deliberately assemble while reading. It differs from a bookmark in that a collection can contain many verses from different chapters and books, can include cross-referenced verses in a hierarchical structure below the verse that references them, and has a group name and note that give the set context and meaning.

• 📌Start selecting verses — click the Select Verses button in the chapter toolbar. Every verse becomes clickable. Click a verse number to select it (a highlighted outline marks selected verses). Click it again to deselect. A counter bar at the bottom of the page shows how many verses are in your active selection.
• 📌Save to a collection — when you have finished selecting, click Save to Collection in the bottom bar. A panel opens where you name the collection, add an optional note, and choose to create a brand-new collection or append the verses to an existing one. The full KJV text of every selected verse is stored permanently.
• 📌“Add to Selection” — merge cross-references into your active selection — while you have an active verse selection, open the cross-reference panel for any verse and click Add to Selection. The cross-referenced verses are pulled into your current selection. When saved, they are stored as cross-reference entries hierarchically beneath the verse that referenced them. In the Collections view they appear with a blue left border and indented styling, making it immediately clear which cross-references belong to which primary verse.
• 📌“Collect These Verses” — standalone collection from cross-references — also in the cross-reference panel, the Collect These Verses button creates a brand-new collection immediately from those cross-reference verses, with no active verse selection required. A naming dialog opens and the collection is saved. This is the fastest way to save a cross-reference set as its own named collection. The key distinction between the two buttons: Add to Selection merges xref verses into an existing selection you are actively building (they become part of a larger collection containing your primary verses plus cross-references), while Collect These Verses creates an independent new collection containing only those cross-reference verses.
• 📌Collections tab — hierarchical view — the Collections tab on the My Bookmarks page lists every collection as a collapsible card. Click the collection name or the expand chevron to open it. Inside: manually selected verses appear with a gold left accent border. Cross-reference verses appear indented directly beneath the verse that references them, with a blue left accent border and a source reference link. Every verse is a clickable link back to its chapter in the reader. The collection’s overall note (if any) is displayed in the card header. A label under the collection name shows which Bible Studies the collection has been added to.
• 📌Edit notes and manage verses — from the Collections tab, edit the collection name and note at any time, remove individual primary verses, remove individual cross-reference entries from beneath a verse, or delete the entire collection. Changes are saved instantly.
• 📝Add a collection to a Bible Study — click Add to Study on any collection card to attach it to one of your named Bible Studies. A note can be added at the time of attaching. The collection appears in the study’s Verse Selections section in the same full hierarchical format — collection name header, primary verses with gold accents, cross-references with blue accents — and it is rendered in the same format in the PDF export.
