Mark 11 begins Jesus's final week, as he sends two disciples to fetch a colt and rides into Jerusalem to the shouts of Hosanna, then enters the temple, looks around, and returns to Bethany. The next morning he curses a barren fig tree that withers, and he cleanses the temple, overturning the seats of those who sold doves and declaring it a house of prayer for all nations. The chapter closes with the chief priests and scribes questioning his authority, and Jesus trapping them with the question of John's baptism, so that they cannot answer and he refuses to tell them by what authority he acts.

(1) And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,
