The Scripture
(19) And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In this chapter Jesus tells a parable about ten virgins who prepare for the wedding, and only one is found faithful when the bridegroom comes. He then narrates the story of a rich man who dies and is tormented while his neighbor Lazarus enjoys life, showing God’s judgment on the wicked. The message stresses the importance of readiness and the consequences of disobedience.
