(5) Then the prophet Jeremiah said unto the prophet Hananiah in the presence of the priests, and in the presence of all the people that stood in the house of the LORD,

In this chapter Jeremiah records the people's continued devotion to false gods despite the king's decree, and he warns that they will face divine judgment for their unfaithfulness. He also emphasizes the need for true worship of the Lord and the danger of following deceitful prophets.
