II Chronicles 13:5
The Scripture
(5) Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Abijah of Judah confronted Jeroboam and Israel in battle, delivering a speech reminding them that the kingdom belonged to the house of David and rebuking their golden calf worship. Though surrounded, Judah cried out to the LORD and won a great victory, striking down five hundred thousand of Israel's chosen men, and Jeroboam never recovered his strength during Abijah's days.
