The Scripture
(7) And the people served the LORD all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that outlived Joshua, who had seen all the great works of the LORD, that he did for Israel.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
After the death of Gideon, his son Abimelech rises to power and kills his brothers, taking the land of their father. He then rules over the Israelites for a short time before being overthrown by his own people. This chapter shows how Israel's leadership often comes from within and is filled with violence and instability.
