The Scripture
(6) And when Joshua had let the people go, the children of Israel went every man unto his inheritance to possess the land.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
After the death of Gideon, his son Abimelech rises to power and kills his brothers, taking the land of their father. He then rules over the Israelites for a short time before being overthrown by his own people. This chapter shows how Israel's leadership often comes from within and is filled with violence and instability.
