The Scripture
(21) And the children of Benjamin did not drive out the Jebusites that inhabited Jerusalem; but the Jebusites dwell with the children of Benjamin in Jerusalem unto this day.

The Israelites, still living under Egyptian oppression, take refuge in a cave near Shechem where God sends an angel to tell them to go to the mountain of the LORD and receive a blessing. This chapter opens the cycle of divine rescue and establishes the theme of God’s promise of future deliverance.
