The Scripture
(10) And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh: and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the children of Israel go out of his land.

Pharaoh orders the Israelites to leave Egypt but then refuses, fearing the wrath of God. God tells Moses to take the firstborn of the Israelites and kill them as a sacrifice.
