The Scripture
(20) And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
After Solomon’s death his son Rehoboam is crowned king, but the northern tribes of Israel rebel and join the Philistines, while the southern tribes remain loyal to Rehoboam. The chapter records the split of the kingdom and the political consequences of this division, showing that the united kingdom could not endure without the loyalty of all its people.
