The Scripture
(7) Then king Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and the other priests, and said unto them, Why repair ye not the breaches of the house? now therefore receive no more money of your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of the house.

King Jehoash instructed the priests to collect money for repairing the house of the LORD and later had Jehoiada the priest set up a chest to gather offerings for the temple's restoration. When Hazael of Syria threatened Jerusalem, Jehoash paid him off with treasures from the temple and palace to spare the city.
