II Kings 11:4
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Second Kings 11 records how Athaliah, on seeing her son Ahaziah dead, destroys the whole royal family and seizes the throne of Judah. Jehosheba hides the infant Joash in the house of the Lord for six years, until the high priest Jehoiada brings him out, arms the guards, crowns him, and makes a covenant between the Lord, the king, and the people. Athaliah is put to death beside the king's house, the people rejoice, and seven-year-old Jehoash begins to reign as the city rests in quiet.
