II Chronicles 34:31
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Second Chronicles 34 recounts the godly reign of King Josiah, who began ruling at age eight and by his sixteenth year had already started purging Judah of its high places, Asherah poles, and carved idols. In his eighteenth year, while funding repairs on the temple, the high priest Hilkiah discovered the lost Book of the Law, and its public reading moved Josiah to tear his robes in grief over Israel's long disobedience. He sent a delegation to the prophetess Huldah, who confirmed that God's judgment on Judah was inevitable but promised that Josiah himself would die in peace before the disaster came, because his heart was tender and he humbled himself before God.
