II Chronicles 11:1
The Scripture
(1) And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he gathered of the house of Judah and Benjamin an hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against Israel, that he might bring the kingdom again to Rehoboam.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Rehoboam assembled an army to fight against the rebelling northern tribes, but the prophet Shemaiah warned him not to fight against his brethren, for the division was of the LORD. Rehoboam then fortified numerous cities throughout Judah and Benjamin for defense, and the priests and Levites from the northern kingdom came to Judah because Jeroboam had rejected them from the priesthood.
