Psalms 45:17
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Psalm 45 is a royal wedding song in which the psalmist's heart overflows with a good theme as he speaks of the king whose beauty and gracious lips God has blessed forever. He depicts the king girded with his sword, riding prosperously for truth, meekness, and righteousness, while his throne is established by God forever with the scepter of righteousness. The psalm then turns to the bride, urging her to forget her people and her father's house and to worship the Lord, and promises that her sons will be made princes throughout the earth and that the king's name will be praised by all peoples forever and ever.
