(4) The LORD is righteous: he hath cut asunder the cords of the wicked.

The psalm portrays a man who has suffered greatly because of his wickedness, his wealth being taken away and his life marked by sorrow. It teaches that God judges the guilty and brings them to ruin, yet there is hope that God will deliver the righteous and restore them.
