The Scripture
(17) Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in his place by their standards.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In Numbers chapter 2 Moses tells the Israelites to camp at the Jordan River, assigning each tribe its own camp except Judah and Benjamin who are to encamp at the Jordan. The chapter emphasizes obedience to God’s directions and the importance of proper division of the camp to maintain order. It also warns that disobedience will lead to loss of the promised land.
