(14) The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.

The people of Jerusalem weep and lament as their city is destroyed and the king's son is taken away. They cry out to God for his wrath and for the loss of their beloved. Yet they also recall the promise of God's mercy and the hope of a future restoration.
