The Scripture
(31) And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox goad: and he also delivered Israel.

In this chapter the Israelites, under the leadership of Gideon, defeat the Midianites who had been oppressing them for years, and Gideon’s people are given the chance to be free. The chapter also shows the theme of God’s judgment and the people’s response to His call.
