The Scripture
(22) And the people the men of Israel encouraged themselves, and set their battle again in array in the place where they put themselves in array the first day.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
In chapter 20 the Israelites relapse into idolatry after a time of peace and Gideon’s victory over the Midianites, which he accomplishes through divine guidance. The chapter shows that even great victories cannot replace true repentance and faithful obedience to God.
