Judges 13:23
The Scripture
(23) But his wife said unto him, If the LORD were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Judges 13 records the birth of Samson, foretold by the Angel of the Lord to the barren wife of Manoah, a Danite from Zorah, while Israel was oppressed by the Philistines for forty years. The child was to be a lifelong Nazarite who would begin to deliver Israel, so his mother was to abstain from wine, strong drink, and unclean food. The chapter closes with the birth of Samson, the blessing of the Lord on the boy, and the Spirit of the Lord beginning to move him in the camp of Dan.
