The Scripture
(1) And the lot of the children of Joseph fell from Jordan by Jericho, unto the water of Jericho on the east, to the wilderness that goeth up from Jericho throughout mount Bethel,

The Israelites camp at the Jordan River while the spies continue to report that the land is ready for their entry. The chapter stresses that God has prepared the way and that the people must trust Him and obey His command to cross at the appointed time.
