Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Elijah and Elisha crossed the Jordan on dry ground after Elijah struck the water with his mantle, and Elisha asked for a double portion of Elijah's spirit before Elijah was taken up to heaven in a whirlwind by a chariot of fire. Elisha then parted the Jordan with Elijah's fallen mantle, healed the waters of Jericho with salt, and cursed a group of mocking youths at Bethel, who were then mauled by two she-bears.
