Job 16:20
The Scripture
(20) My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Job 16 opens with Job calling his friends miserable comforters whose vain words have no end, and he challenges them to imagine how they would feel in his place. He describes how God has worn him out, shattered him with terrors, and made him a byword, while his relatives and acquaintances have failed him. He concludes with a poignant cry that though his friends scorn him, his eye pours out tears to God, and he longs for someone to plead for a man with God as one pleads for a neighbor, knowing that soon he will go the way of no return.
