Jeremiah 16:19
The Scripture
(19) O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Jeremiah 16 opens with the Lord forbidding the prophet to marry or have children because of the grievous deaths coming upon the land through sword and famine. Mourning and feasting are forbidden as well, since the people's fathers forsook the Lord for other gods. The chapter closes with the prophet's confession of the Lord as his strength and a vision of Gentiles confessing their fathers' lies and coming to know His name.
