Jeremiah 16:18
The Scripture
(18) And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their detestable and abominable things.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Jeremiah 16 opens with the Lord forbidding the prophet to marry or have children because of the grievous deaths coming upon the land through sword and famine. Mourning and feasting are forbidden as well, since the people's fathers forsook the Lord for other gods. The chapter closes with the prophet's confession of the Lord as his strength and a vision of Gentiles confessing their fathers' lies and coming to know His name.
