(26) Then Abimelech went to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath one of his friends, and Phichol the chief captain of his army.

Abraham, now a hundred years old, is given a promise by God that he will inherit the land of Canaan. He and his family travel to the site of the promised land, find a rock, plant a tree, and build an altar. The chapter shows God’s faithfulness and the beginning of Abraham’s obedience to the covenant.
