The Scripture
(6) Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Ezra and Nehemiah go to Jerusalem to organize the people and enforce the law. They divide the community into three groups, judging those who have kept the commandments, those who have broken them, and those who have not answered. The chapter ends with the judgment being carried out.
