Ecclesiastes 3:2
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Ecclesiastes 3 declares that to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven-a time to be born and to die, to plant and pluck up, to kill and heal, to weep and laugh, to mourn and dance, to keep and cast away, to love and hate, and a time of peace. The Preacher observes that God has made everything beautiful in its time and has set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can find out the work God does from beginning to end. He concludes that there is nothing better than to rejoice and do good in one's labor, and that God will judge the righteous and the wicked, for all return to dust and the spirit returns to God.
