(3) And come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.

Joab sent a wise woman of Tekoah to tell David a parable about a feuding family, persuading the king to allow the banished Absalom to return to Jerusalem. Though Absalom returned, David initially refused to see him, and the chapter ends with their eventual reconciliation and a kiss.
