(30) And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.

David's son Amnon deceitfully raped his half-sister Tamar and then cast her out in hatred, leaving her desolate in her brother Absalom's house. Two years later Absalom had his servants kill Amnon in revenge during a sheep-shearing feast, then fled to Geshur.
