The Scripture
(15) And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.

Hezekiah began a righteous reign over Judah, removing idols and trusting in the LORD as Assyria under Shalmaneser conquered Samaria. When Sennacherib king of Assyria invaded Judah, his officer the Rabshakeh stood before Jerusalem's walls mocking God and demanding surrender.
