The Scripture
(21) And the rest of the acts of Menahem, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

Azariah (Uzziah) reigned in Judah but was struck with leprosy for entering the temple, while Israel saw a rapid and violent succession of kings—Zachariah, Shallum, Menahem, Pekahiah, and Pekah—many of whom were murdered by their successors. During this period Tiglath-pileser of Assyria began carrying Israelites into captivity.
