The Scripture
(27) And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Amaziah of Judah defeated Edom but then foolishly challenged Jehoash of Israel to battle, who warned him with the parable of the thistle and the cedar before defeating Judah and breaking down Jerusalem's wall. The chapter also records the reigns of Jeroboam II in Israel, who restored Israel's border, and Amaziah's eventual assassination.
