The Scripture
(13) And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
Amaziah of Judah defeated Edom but then foolishly challenged Jehoash of Israel to battle, who warned him with the parable of the thistle and the cedar before defeating Judah and breaking down Jerusalem's wall. The chapter also records the reigns of Jeroboam II in Israel, who restored Israel's border, and Amaziah's eventual assassination.
