The Scripture
(15) Moreover they reckoned not with the men, into whose hand they delivered the money to be bestowed on workmen: for they dealt faithfully.

King Jehoash instructed the priests to collect money for repairing the house of the LORD and later had Jehoiada the priest set up a chest to gather offerings for the temple's restoration. When Hazael of Syria threatened Jerusalem, Jehoash paid him off with treasures from the temple and palace to spare the city.
