The Scripture
(9) Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.

Solomon blessed the congregation of Israel and recounted how the LORD had chosen Jerusalem and David to build the temple, then knelt before the altar and prayed a lengthy prayer of dedication. He asked that the LORD would hear the prayers of Israel and even of foreigners made toward this house, forgiving sin whenever the people turned back to Him.
