I Samuel 12:21
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
First Samuel 12 presents Samuel's farewell address to Israel at the coronation of the king, in which he publicly challenges anyone to witness against him for taking an ox or a bribe, and the people confirm his integrity. He recounts the Lord's righteous acts of deliverance throughout their history and rebukes them for asking for a king when the Lord was already their king, warning that they and their king will fare well only as long as they fear and serve the Lord. The chapter closes with Samuel promising to keep praying for them and to teach them the good and right way, but warning that persistent wickedness will consume both them and their king.
