(26) And he did very abominably in following idols, according to all things as did the Amorites, whom the LORD cast out before the children of Israel.

Ahab coveted Naboth's vineyard, and when Naboth refused to sell his inheritance, Jezebel arranged false witnesses to have Naboth stoned to death so Ahab could seize the land. Elijah confronted Ahab with God's judgment that dogs would lick his blood and devour Jezebel, and Ahab humbled himself, causing the LORD to delay the disaster until after his death.
