I Chronicles 6:13
The Scripture
Chapter overview (whole chapter)
First Chronicles 6 gives the genealogy of the tribe of Levi, tracing the descendants of Gershon, Kohath, and Merari down through Aaron, Moses, and Miriam, and listing the high priestly line from Aaron through Eleazar and Phinehas. It names the Levites whom David appointed to music before the tabernacle and those who served in their duties. The chapter closes with the cities and pasturelands assigned to the Levites throughout the tribal territories, including the cities of refuge, fulfilling the Lord's command that Levi should have no territorial inheritance but dwell among the people.
