Chapter overview (whole chapter)

First Chronicles 12 lists the mighty men who joined David at Ziklag while he was still hiding from Saul, including Benjamite archers ambidextrous with bow and stone, Gadite warriors who crossed the flooded Jordan, and men of Manasseh who came when David went to Ziklag. It records how David accepted them after God's Spirit came upon Amasai, and describes the steadily growing ranks from every tribe. The chapter closes with a great assembly at Hebron of armed men of one heart to make David king over all Israel, accompanied by three days of eating and drinking and abundant provisions from the surrounding tribes, for there was joy in Israel.
